Well, talking about music, ska is really the basis of reggae (The Israelites from Desmond Dekker is more ska than reggae), but in the eighties there was a boom of ska groups in England. I think that music could be better defined as techno-ska. I'm talking of groups like Madness, Selecter, Specials...

The Spanish group Ska-P has nothing to do with ska music. It is rather a sort of joke, because the pronunciation of the group sounds like the Spanish word "escape", that means run away in English. Ska-P is a rock group, with agressive lyrics.

As another matter of fact, it is very hard to see Spanish groups on MTV or similar tv channels because almost every singer here sings in Spanish. In other countries (Germany, Sweden...) there is more usual to find groups singing in English. In the sixties we had here a group called Los Bravos with a German singer singing in English that had a huge success in England and other countries with the song "Black Is Black".

Ska-P really has some ska beats on some of their songs. They just became more commercial and changed their sounds.

Héroes Del Silencio had some videos on rotation on MTV, too.

I listened SK-P last night, yes it's a kind of pop punk, everything but reggae.
You guys here are all around 18-20 old right/ maybe I'm too old to accept this kind of music again. :(

well, I'm going to make me younger so I'll try to enjoy more happy music like SKA-P (though we can find anger from the vocal, it doesn't matter).. can we put any music here playing in this topic ?

Welcome to China!
Our country has a long history as Greece, Babylon and India. There are many World Heritages and beautiful sceneries.I think you will enjoy yourself in your journey.
But as China has the largest population in the world. May1st-7th and October1st-7th is our public holidays. In these days, it's difficult to buy the ticket and you'll be in a crowd anywhere, everyone's on journey so you'd better choose your time and keep away from these high time.

I hope these websites are useful for the friends who want to have a holiday in China.

Yeah, Ska P is pretty much like pop-ska. Only some of their songs have distinc hornlines and sounds like Ska. The Basque bad I mentioned is real ska... I'm more into "2-tone" and "third wave" ska. Like Specials, Slackers, Persiana Jones, Streetlight Manifesto, Big D and the Kids Table, Leftover Crack, Choking Victim, Aquabats, Mustard Plug etc. That sort of stuff. Unfortunitly no real Ska gets any media publicity but thats the way I like it. I prefer "underground" music a lot more.

I think it has to be a great country to visit, but not so good for living. I don't know too much. Chinese people who live in here don't talk a lot about it. Anyway I wouldn't judge it, it's a really different culture. The only think I don't like, according to the news I read, is the lack of liberty. In Spain we learned to love liberty. We paid a really expensive price for it in the past. We had civil war, we had a dicatorial state...

Feudal autocracy system had existed in China more than 2000 years, sometimes I think the people may had been used to the system and the government. The people founded republic state in 1919 after a long and hard struggle from 1898. But in the following 40 years, our coutry was filled with civil wars between generals and the War of Resistance Against Japan. The Japanese army had brought us too many unbelievable massacres. They ruined our country and left almost nothing. They killed 25 million people between 8 years, most of them were civilians. But now the government of Japan denies they had did these brutal, dirty things, refuse to apologize, even their Premier goes to the temple, holds a memorial ceremony yearly for the war criminals who were declared guilty by the International Court of Justice. This is the reason why we hate the goverment of Japan very much.

In 1949 we founded republic again and it grows till today. Though the situation here can not be judged as good based on the western standard, we're trying our best to improve and we believe it'll be better, our leaders had also realized the importance of democracy, who's advancing the process of democracy.

Spanish music?Don't get to hear them much here.Maybe nowadays a lot of Reggaeton, but its from SA.

About China,first how do u know English?Everyone I know says they can't speak a word,preparing for the Olympics ;)
Here in India,we used to think like evryone else, selling cheap goods.Nowadays that has changed.Infact the gov officials here in Mumbai want it to become a shanghai, all gleaming with huge skyscrapers & that train u got which connects to airport.I also seen pics of other cities like Shenzhen,Dalian,Guangzhoa....wow immpressive.(BTW I am a skyscraper freak)

But I also feel only the east coast is developing at a rapid pace whereas the intereior is still poor.

@Rafa,u from S Africa living in NZ?Any idea if Aus gets Spanish liga there?

PS, do you like cricket?

I've heard of them, I think i know a couple of their songs. I'm not too keen on Australia to be honest. In general South Africans and Australians don't like eachother. Same with New Zealanders because we often play sports together, and Australia cheat and play dirty so we don't like them...

I think their lyrics can be funny once. To me it's like a joke: it may be funny the first time, the second one you already know it. :?:

Which are the most famous cricket teams? I think that sport only is played in Commonwealth countries because if you question to spanish people about it, only a few can tell it it's a sport. I can watch baseball, rugby and american and australian football on TV (sports which people don't like much) but I've never watched a cricket match :?

Yeah, its mainly commonwealth countries that play. eg South Africa, Australia, India, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, England etc. Some other teams such as USA, Kenya, Canada, Holland etc are new to it and they have professional teams but their quality is really bad.

I don't really like cricket that much anymore. I used to like it heaps i'm just a bit bored of it. Its one hell of an interesting gme though. If you like tactical sports cricket is for you!
