According to Superdeporte Marcelino will be the coach next season. Altough no other source has this new and the club officially denied but, it can be true, they just don't want to announce it yet.
I hope it's true, we can't get a better coach for next season, maybe Emery, and I doubt any of the big ones would like to come here, it's the same for big named players. And Marcelino did a great job last year at recre, and this year at racing.
Any thoughts on this?
I don't know if it is true that big name coaches don't wish to come here. I think no big name coach wanted to come here when Quique was fired because they probably realized it was going to be a difficult situation. Mourinho was offered the position and said no, and I think he made the right choice at the time. It's difficult to try and clean up somebody else's mess during the season. Very few coaches are good at doing so. Do it and fail and your reputation gets tarnished, something no big coach nor their ego wishes to deal with.
And I'm not so sure that no big names don't want to come here. It depends on a number of circumstances. Trezeguet could have been here but Quique didn't want him. Snijder was arguably the best player in Holland last year and Valencia was well on the way to signing him, but Quique didn't want him. Van der Vaart wanted to come here last summer, but Hamburg didn't wish to release him. I don't think having big name players is necessarily the answer to a team's problems, they really help of course, but what I think Valencia needs more than anything is players who play for the team and not for themselves. This edition of Valencia sorely lacks this type of player.
As for Marcelino, I know the same as you. He played a 4-4-2 with Recre last year and Racing this year. His man management skills I have no idea on, which are very important. Koeman's man management skills are a bit lacking. Emery, on the other hand, prefers to play with a 4-3-3 or some variant thereof. I think I would prefer Emery, he enjoys attacking football, but I'm not so sure that this team, as it is currently constructed, would make sense for someone like Emery. But then again, I'm somewhat expecting big changes this summer in personnel, so who the team will be constructed by is just as important as who gets to guide it.
