Valencia striker Patrick Kluivert had a swipe at coach Quique Flores after coming on as a late substitute in the defeat at Villarreal on Saturday.

"I do not want to create controversy about this situation, it is a decision of the trainer," said Kluivert. "But I cannot change a game in three minutes. Quique was a player and would have to know this."

He added: "I know I'm the only one who can change this, he has his thoughts and I will have to work more to convince him I can start games."

So in all other countries (England, the Netherlands, Germany, France) they call a good player estrella. Although this might also have a negative meaning (in the Netherlands). Star isn't exactly the same as crack; but we don't have a good translation for 'crack'.

And what is in the end meaning of word "crack" on English? Star?

Yes star is the closest word for it. Crack in spanish is used for the players that are able to change a match for good with a single action.

In Belgium, where they also speak Dutch, the word crack is used for someone who is really good at something, and I think you can translate it that way too in English.

Still, in Spanish it's used a lot more. Every good player is called a crack at some point.
In Newcastle (Kluiverts' former club) they call such a player a legend.

Quique has warned Patrick Kluivert he won't be selected on reputation.

"I coach him as a professional, just like the other 28 that I have," said Quique. "If he improves he will play, if he does not, he will have difficulties. He has to know that history is not going to be worth anything here."
