It took me 1 hour to translate this yesterday night (my spanish isn't very good yet):
Interview with Kluivert, by FRANCISCO ESTELLÉS of Las Provincias!
Kluivert assures that the moment to show himself has come. "I am able to play my best football; I want to be part of the first eleven of el míster", he indicates.
After 10 liga-matches, we have seen two faces of Valencia. The one of the strong team who can win in Bernabéu and the one of a weaker team seen in the two last matches at Mestalla.
-When you play against Madrid or Barcelona the mentality with which you enter a game is different. You know that when you face these teams, that if you lose concentration, they can make 4 goals. However, against rivals like Sevilla or Racing everything is different.
Do you admit, therefore, that there was a lack of mentality against the weaker teams?
I think that against these teams, you must win, because this will win you the liga. It's important to have the same mentality against all teams, the strong ones and the weaker ones. We are not allowed to lose concentration.
Should we think, that because of this irregularity, Valencia is still not a firm candidate to win the Liga?
I believe that we already are. Still it's soon. We have almost played 1/3th of the matches already and we must continue to improve ourselves. This team has a lot of quality. We should not hurry ourselves: we are contenders for the liga title.
The problems in the knee and the delay in its recovery have hold you back in the start of this season. Now finally it seems that you are beginning to enter into the plans of Quique
Yes, every day I continue working. I must demonstrate that I am worth to be in the starting line-up in the Valencia. I want to be part of the first eleven of
el míster.
I'm noticing that you are very convinced
So is it: I came here to Valencia to prevail. I want to demonstrate that I'm capable of playing my best football. I know I can do it perfectly, but I must work hard and train a lot. In addition I'm convinced my injury has totally healed. I wish to become an important help for this team.
Let's talk about your year in England. Did you miss Spain, the last season?
Very much. Especially because of the climate and the food. (he smiles) From that point of view; to return to Spain and to be playing for Valencia is fantastic. For a player off the pitch, it's important to be liked and to feel good. This wasn't the case in England.
So you noticed much differences between these countries?
Of course! They are not possible to be compared. They are two very different countries. You have to live there in a different way.
What feelings do you have about your time at Barcelona?
I have a lot of friends there. After six seasons at Camp Nou, I'm now the 4th or 5th topgoalscorer in the history of Barcelona. These are beautiful things for me and you don't forget those quickly.
Ok; so why did you choose for Valencia?
Because, already when I played with Barcelona against Valencia, I admired the way of playing of this team. Later, eventhough I was bought by Newcastle, I've always thought about the option to come to Valencia to play again in the Spanish Liga. I wanted to come to this equipment. I always wanted to be part of this team.
Now you are already three months here in Valencia. Have you found a player-group here, which resembles to the one you hoped for?
They are all good people. They are good individuals and, in addition, very great companions. Quality football-players who know how to play. It is good they are important elements for the national teams. That's fantastic for this team.
And what do you think of the city, Valencia?
I don't know very much, but what I've seen so far of Valencia has pleased me a lot. I think that it's a beautiful city. In addition the people are very warm here and the people enchant me.
Is is the same as Barcelona, in this way?
Yes. I've noticed some similarities already. I lived in Barcelona for six years and I know how the people are like. They are both mediterranean cities and they have some similarities, but I believe that Valencian and Catelans are different.
In what way?
I believe that the people of Valencia are more affectionate. The Valencians are more sympathic, more open. I don't mean to say that in Barcelona they aren't like that, but I notice that here they are warmer. At least a bit more, I think.
How does a normal day go in the life of Kluivert?
When the training-session has finished, I go to the gym to work with the weights. Generally, within two days before the game, I do not do any rehab training with the phisyotherapists.
And outside of the Ciudad Deportivo de Paterna, the trainings and the matches; what does Patrick Kluivert likes to do?
I love to spend my time with my children. I also like to go to the cinema and watch movies in the originally version, because I don't like the dubbing to spanish language. I also like to listen music.
And is there something else you like?
Yes, I also like to cook because it relaxes me a lot. To make different plates, like pastes, rice or meats, is definitely one of the things that I like to do most when I am outside my sporting activity.
