Betis 1- Valencia 2

Joaquin returned to former club Real Betis and was in fine-form as he grabbed two goals for Valencia in the opening 11 minutes.

Mariano Pavone pulled one back for Betis just before the break but Valencia claimed victory. Both sides finished with 10-men as Javier Arzimendi and Leandro Somoza were dismissed late in the second half.

Finally!!!! Valencia played a great match.

I really enjoyed it. In the last 3 years I didn't see Valencia playing like that.

Some things:

1- Quique said that Mata is not still a man. He is well fired just for that. He played great, asking for the ball, fighting, trying his best... He passed the second goal with his right foot.

2.- Hildebrand. Finally we can relay in the goal keeper. I said it after sunday match an I will repeat it now: It's very difficult to stop difficult kicks when he is not participating in the game.

3.- Joaquin and Arizmendi. They didn't play in their possition and they were great. Those times when we couldn't win somebody because we had a player left are far away. Arizmendi will be a difficult opposition for Miguel in the right defender position.

4.- Our Vicente is coming back. He is improving step to step.

I really support koeman. He is doing a very good job!

What the hell? Am I reading it right that Arizmendi played as a right back? Give Koeman some credit, at least he recognizes that Arizmendi's inability to score doesn't make him completely useless. Maybe Arizmendi is the right back that he never wanted to be?

I'm glad to read that Mata is coming around. I'm also glad that Valencia didn't ship him out somewhere in order to get some playing time. Actually, this may sound a bit crazy, but I think Valencia could play the AC Milan christmas tree formation (4-3-2-1) with Mata and Silva playing just behind the lone forward. Of course, since Valencia also has Vicente and Joaquin, I doubt Koeman would revert to such a formation as a permanent solution. Nevertheless, it's possible.

Nice to read that Montoro is actually getting some minutes. Stupid Quique never knew how to rotate his squad properly and get the best out of his bench. The nice thing about starting the Valencia revolution early is that at least Koeman now has half a season to figure things out, which can only help for next season.
