Banega came through the youth ranks at Boca Juniors and it was not until he moved to the first team that he won international recognition, thanks to his impressive passing average and his excellent performances in the local league. After Boca midfielder Fernando Gago moved to Real Madrid, Banega was named as his successor despite his young age[1].

Banega helped the Under-20 National Team to win the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada, where his performances earned him much praise. On January 2,2008, Banega was transfered to Valencia FC for a fee around €15.5, payable on 4 years. He will fill the spot that left David Albelda[3]

Banega, Sunny, Fernandes, Albiol, Mata, Montoro, Silva... I like the new project for Valencia. I hope that Koeman will be brave enough to use he youngsters of the team. Valencia paid between 20 and 25 millions dollars for him.

I've seen him play for Boca many times I think he's a really good player with a lot of potential. But like other young players especially ones playing abroad I think he'll struggle quite a lot. He's got the ability to help us a lot and I really like the thought of having him, Fernandes and Sunny available in a few years ones they've developed a little more. There's a great deal of potential in our ranks now.

But we're really struggling this season, some fresh faces will help but we have a lot of problems to work through. This could be a top signing over time though. He's definitely a whole hearted guy but he needs to control some of his stupid tackles.

Do you think that Fernandes has a future at Valencia? I really hope he does because I like him but for some reason I don't think he does. confused.

Oh, we should try sign Ustari as back up for Timo. Ustari and Banega in our squad would be great. Two of the best young players in Argentina.

A good signing. I was hoping that Valencia would have signed him this past summer, as he was great at the U20s in Canada - one of the best players on the Argentine side outside of Mr. Aguerro. I happened to be at the fracas that was the Argentina v Chile semi-final, and he played quite well.

Still, a bit much to pay for someone who doesn't score so much, but in his defence he is a great passer of the ball. With Sunny and Banega in the centre of the park, the future does look to be brighter, but like Rafa said, I wonder just how much of a future Fernandes has with Valencia with Banega now on board. I'd like to think Fernandes has a future at Valencia, but if Koeman does rule with an iron fist and demand a 4-3-3 at all times, there should be room for him...but that's up to Koeman.

Where exactly is Valencia getting the cash to make such a signing? Isn't Valencia like waist deep in debt?

From the stadiums. Old Mestalla is being to become to some big apartments blocks. Same in Porxinos (new training pitches) that will be included inside a residential new town. They expect to get lots of money with those two projects and another one that the President didn't say yet.

36 m. € is excessive, for have a midfielder after 50 alternatives... Fernandes has given a terrible result and I don't have many confidence in Banega.

Banega is better, Banega has a better attitude and is one hell of a player!

About Manuel Fernandes, well, he and Koeman doesn't work together, that's how it is.
They hated eachother in Benfica, that's why he got loaned out to the EPL.

This is no important for me, I will judge him as a player not as a sex symbol, but the anti-Valencia media is using it to say that Valencia bought something close to a sex pervert.

There's a show called Swedish Heroes where he was celebrating a bisexual person who was beaten up by people for being a bisexual.
That wasn't the funny part (not funny at all really), the funny part was the interview, how the spoke to eachother and how they sat, it was straight comedy laugh.

For those who doesn't know, Jöback is a gay artist from Sweden.
